Atropos Health announces collaboration with Mayo Clinic Platform_Discover to access their vast RWD resource for the Green Button Informatics Consult Service, bolstering bespoke RWE generation.

In a November 2022 press release, Atropos Health announced a collaboration with Mayo Clinic Platform, the data analytics arm of Mayo Clinic. The partnership will advance the delivery of tailored point-of-care RWE by giving Atropos’ pioneering Green Button Informatics Consult Service access to the Mayo Clinic Platform_ Discover massive RWD resource.

Atropos Health’s Green Button is the first physician consultation service that employs millions of de-identified medical records of past patient encounters to advise clinicians on courses of treatments for their patients. The pioneer company and their ground-breaking innovation began as a research project at Stanford University (CA, USA) when doctors postulated the idea of being able to push a button to immediately receive answers to complex questions regarding patient care.

The service allows physicians to submit questions in their normal workflow and receive answers in the form of publication grade RWE, termed a ‘prognostogram’, generated from research grade RWD. While it typically takes weeks to determine the best course of treatment for an individual with a challenging case, a prognostogram advises clinicians’ actions with evidence in a matter of days. By leveraging clinical insights from a growing span of RWD in a rapid, methodologically transparent manner, Atropos’ mission is to help care providers answer clinical questions that have fallen through the cracks of evidence-based literature, in particular for historically under-represented patients.

“This pioneering technology can find answers locked in patient data and research that may not reach mainstream care for years,” purports Brigham Hyde, CEO of Atropos Health. “Atropos dramatically speeds up the process, saving the lives of patients who need critical care.”

Mayo Clinic Platform is a strategic initiative of Mayo Clinic to improve healthcare through insights and knowledge derived from data. Mayo Clinic Platform_Discover is its vast repository of high-quality, comprehensive, longitudinal, de-identified patient RWD and sophisticated analytic tools. “We are pleased to collaborate with Atropos Health through Mayo Clinic Platform_Discover’s curated data and analytical tools,” voiced Steven Bethke, VP of Product Portfolio, Mayo Clinic Platform. “The goal of the pilot is to help unlock insights that will accelerate better care for many people.”

Discover utilizes an innovative de-identification process for data from more than 10-million records, including 1.2-billion lab tests, 9-billion pathology reports, and 644-million clinical notes. The multi-site data, from urban and rural communities across Mayo Clinic sites in Minnesota, Florida, Arizona and more, includes both structured data such as demographics, diagnoses, lab tests and medications, and unstructured data such as pathology reports, clinical notes, and radiology reports. “The wealth of real-world evidence at Mayo Clinic would make the prognostogram more efficient at advising physicians as they deliver care” continued Atropos CEO Brigham Hyde. “In turn, this could empower Mayo Clinic to make new discoveries, develop new treatments, and improve patient health all over the globe”.
