Retrospective study reveals non-traditional risk factors for CVD are rising

Research conducted by a team at the University Hospital Zürich (Switzerland), which has been presented at the virtual European Stroke Organisation (ESO) Conference (1–3 September 2021), has highlighted how changes to the Swiss workforce can impact the risk factors leading to negative health consequences.  Using retrospective real-world data, including the Swiss National Health Survey and trends in occupational demographics, the researchers established conclusions on both non-traditional and traditional risk factors underlying conditions such as cardiovascular disease, heart attacks and stroke.  The data demonstrated that since 2012, work stress had increased from 59% to 66% in 2017.
