The National Health Service (NHS) in Wales has selected Promptly Health as technological partner for the administration of patient-centered outcomes (PCOs) data.

Promptly Health operates a global evidence network focused on patient-centered data sharing, emphasizing real-world evidence. Operating in 10 countries, Promptly collaborates with partners to generate insights from harmonized datasets, including patient-reported data and digital biomarkers, within a secure environment.

The selection of Promptly Health by NHS Wales comes as part of a National Framework valued at approximately £11 million. Initially, five companies were shortlisted in November 2023, with Promptly ultimately being selected by NHS Boards in January 2024 to deploy the first contract. The contract is set to span 3 years, with a potential extension of up to 2 years.

NHS Wales, which serves a population of 3 million, has been recognized for its leadership in high-value care planning in Europe. It has been designated as a Global Innovation Hub by the World Economic Forum and the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) Health. Since 2019, NHS Wales has been piloting initiatives for collecting PCOs, with demonstrations of feasibility through scientific publications, conferences, and educational courses. The new contract seeks to expand the health system’s capabilities for outcomes collection and enhance interoperability with digital health products, including the patient-facing NHS Portal, and standardize harmonization to the NHS Wales Data Dictionary to facilitate faster and higher-quality analytics and research.

Pedro Ramos, CEO at Promptly Health, emphasized the company’s commitment to making health outcomes available. He highlighted their broader efforts with UK partners, stating, “This contract emphasizes our strong commitment to fulfil our mission of making health outcomes available and aligns with our broader work with partners in the UK for delivering real-world evidence that can be used for shared decision-making by patients and healthcare professionals, and for patient-focused research and development.” Ramos also noted expectations for additional partnerships in health system data collection and sharing technology, particularly with the advancement of Secure Data Environments in the UK and the European Health Data Space, where Promptly serves as an industry advisor.
