Komodo Health’s new grant program, in collaboration with Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and Mathematica, will offer eight researchers access to real-world data (RWD) for a US-wide investigation of diet-related diseases.

Komodo Health has joined forces with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) and Mathematica to introduce a program aimed at funding innovative research on the impact of diet-related diseases. The Diet-Related Health (DRH) Research Program has initiated a call for proposals, inviting researchers to submit projects exploring the nationwide impact of diet on health. The program aims to expedite strategies for enhancing nutrition, preventing childhood obesity, and promoting diet-related health equity.

The DHR program will award eight grantees free access to RWD provided by Komodo Health’s Healthcare Map, a comprehensive repository that encompasses medical, clinical, laboratory, and pharmaceutical encounters of over 330 million patients. Eligible research projects will focus on enhancing understanding of the prevalence of diet-related diagnoses such as obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. Additionally, the research will delve into treatments for diet-related conditions and address barriers to nutrition equity.

Katherine Hempstead, Senior Policy Adviser at RWJF, spoke of the potential impact of the partnership, stating, “We look forward to seeing how some of our country’s most creative and visionary researchers will leverage Komodo’s real-world data to evolve our collective understanding of diet-related health and disease.”

Web Sun, President and Co-Founder of Komodo Health, emphasized the company’s commitment to contributing to the RWJF’s mission, stating, “It’s always been Komodo’s goal to reduce the burden of disease, and we are proud to offer grantees a stronger evidence base that can better quantify the effects of diet on health.”
