Promptly Health, a European real-world data access provider, and Datavant, a health data logistics company, have partnered to improve access to health data in Europe. Integrating Datavant’s technology into Promptly’s Evidence Network aims to streamline Europe’s fragmented health data landscape, benefiting life sciences and hospital partners.

Through the partnership, Promptly Health and Datavant will combine their expertise in data federation, harmonization, and tokenization to optimize patient data use in Europe. They will employ Promptly’s secure data access and Datavant’s technology to transform fragmented medical data into study-ready assets. Stakeholders such as hospitals, biopharmaceutical companies, insurers, regulators, and policymakers will gain visibility into patient populations, fostering value-based care initiatives, enhancing risk predictability, and facilitating clinical decision-making. Initially focusing on the Iberian region, the partnership plans to expand into the UK and Sweden, where Promptly is expanding its Hospital Partner Network.

Pedro Ramos, CEO of Promptly, highlighted the partnership’s potential in integrating data into health research and innovations, stating,

“The combination of Promptly’s real-world data capabilities with Datavant’s leading connectivity technology marks a significant shift in the way data can be integrated into health research and innovations. Our Hospital Network and customers can now more easily and securely analyze their collective datasets to fill gaps in patient care, reduce costs, and speed time to insight, while in full compliance with data privacy requirements in Europe.”

Despite the essential role of collaboration and data accessibility in fostering healthcare innovation, healthcare organizations face challenges due to the sensitive nature of healthcare data. With patient information dispersed across numerous healthcare contexts and databases, there is a growing need for more efficient collaboration methods. The European Health Data Space (EHDS), provisionally approved in March 2024, aims to mitigate these challenges by empowering individuals to manage their health data. It supports the utilization of health data for enhancing healthcare delivery, research, innovation, and policymaking while ensuring safe and secure data exchange. This regulation is anticipated to generate significant value for the healthcare ecosystem over the next decade. By enhancing patient data utilization in Europe, the Promptly Health and Datavant collaboration will contribute to the future of the EHDS.

Devin Gilliam, General Manager for Europe & UK at Datavant, highlighted the opportunity to replicate the success of their real-world data ecosystem in the US within Europe, stating,

“Datavant and our partners successfully built the largest real-world data ecosystem in the US, which has enabled real-world evidence generation and advanced patient insights. We’re excited to partner with Promptly to bring our data connectivity capabilities and experience to Europe and accelerate the exchange of real-world data for stakeholders across the healthcare industry.”
