Global Data Partner network

By working one of Brazil’s leading cardiology centers, Hospital do Coração, BC Platforms will capture real-world data from people affected by cardiovascular diseases within its Global Data Partner network, BCRQUEST.COM, to help advance understanding of this area.

BC Platforms, a global leader in healthcare data management and analytics, has communicated they are widening its Global Data Partner network in South America by working with Hospital do Coração (HCor) in Brazil. HCor is a center of excellence in cardiology in the country, with expertise in over 50 specialities. BC Platforms will be able to leverage HCor’s longitudinal patient real-world data (RWD) in cardiovascular conditions such as atrial fibrillation, heart failure, and stroke, to expand its Global Data Partner network, BCRQUEST.COM. BCRQUEST.COM is rapidly growing data network with a footprint across many sites, including networks of major hospitals and biobank, and contains RWD from over 65 million patients on six continents.

HCor is at the forefront of patient care in Brazil, seeing on average 79,469 patients every day. Since 2021, the institution has implemented an electronic medical records system and adopted technologies across various sectors of its operations. Alexandre Biasi, Director of Education and Research at HCor, explained, “HCor has embraced digitalization in recent years, integrating technology into its operational processes across different sectors, as we provide healthcare at scale and pace to around 80,000 patients a day, including significant numbers with atrial fibrillation and stroke. This collaboration with BC Platforms, to make use of the company’s industry leading RWD data platform BCRQuest.com, accelerates that trend, reflecting HCor’s commitment to leveraging advancements in high-quality healthcare to improve patient outcomes and overall efficiency.”

Cardiovascular disease is a major public health problem in Brazil, accounting for nearly one-third of deaths and disproportionately affecting the most vulnerable in the population. Genetic differences are being considered to enable earlier and potentially tailor prevention and treatment. Using hospital-derived real-world patient data, such as that captured in BC Platforms’ Global Data Partner network, researchers can identify patterns, correlations, and risk factors associated with cardiovascular disease to gain a better understanding of how this may affect patient outcomes.

Carolin Bender, Chief Medical Officer at BC Platforms, commented, “We are delighted to partner with Hospital do Coração to provide access to real world data from patients affected by cardiovascular diseases and thus further driving innovation in the field of healthcare and research.” she continued, “More diverse and representative global healthcare data is crucial in reducing existing biases in healthcare research and achieving equitable healthcare. We have been providing our world leading healthcare data analytics platform in Latin America for years to help change the face of healthcare and wellbeing there and far beyond.”
