An AI tool for the detection of incidental pulmonary embolus (iPE) has been shown to outperform conventional contrast-enhanced chest computed tomography (CT) scans and radiologists alone. An incidental pulmonary embolism is a small blood clot in the lungs. Often patients with an iPE are not aware of this, as the clot is usually too small to cause any symptoms.
