Research published in Frontiers in Public Health has shown that infection rates of COVID-19 in schools reduced with obligatory mask mandates. Scientists from the University Hospital Rostock (Germany) utilized real-world data (RWD) sources measuring COVID-19 infections for this study. The present study acknowledged that prior research had highlighted the negative effects school closures have had on pupils, therefore reinforcing the need to prevent school outbreaks. To evaluate the influences on school closures, the team explored the impact hygiene measures had on COVID-19 infections and outbreaks.
