Infographic: Inflation Reduction Act in numbers

Signed into law by President Joe Biden on August 16, 2022, the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) is a historic piece of legislation in the US which aims to curb inflation by reducing the federal government budget deficit, lowering prescription drug prices, and investing in domestic energy production while promoting clean energy. One year on, in our 'Inflation Reduction Act in numbers' infographic, created by The Evidence BaseĀ®, we summarize the key elements of the IRA, including the timeline for implementation and the list of medicines expected to be subject to price negotiation in 2026. The infographic was updated in late August 2023 following publication of the first 10 drugs selected for pricing negotiation.
