A multi-institutional study, published in Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention, found that diagnostic mammography results are subject to racial bias, with the rate of diagnostic accuracy highest in non‐Hispanic white women and lowest in Hispanic women. Researchers from the University of North Carolina Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center (NC, USA) reviewed 267,868 diagnostic mammograms performed between 2005–2017 in 98 facilities from the Breast Cancer Surveillance Consortium and followed these women for 1 year after the mammogram to track the potential development of breast cancer.
