In this feature for International Women’s Day 2020 (8 March), we interview Manuela Di Fusco (Pfizer; NY, USA), exploring what a typical (or not so typical!) day is like.
Manuela Di Fusco is a Director of Health Economics and Outcomes Research at Pfizer (NY, USA).
Manuela’s educational background is in Economics, Health Technology Assessment and Marketing Management. She has more than 10 years of experience in the life sciences industry, having held senior leadership positions in health economics and outcomes research and market access across different therapeutic areas in the USA, Europe and Latin America.

1) My alarm goes off…
…and one of the first things I do is take a look at my calendar and emails — to visualize my day and define what work I will be completing first.
2) I’m responsible for…
Leading the planification, development and execution of the health economics and outcomes research strategy for a life-saving medicine.
3) My typical day…
Is a busy and diverse mix of activities.
4) The strangest thing that has happened…
I ran into a university classmate during a trip to Turkey; we both attended the same school in Italy years before and met randomly in Istanbul (Turkey) — we were both surprised! We had a good laugh and took a picture together.
5) The best part of my job…
Knowing that my research creates value — it advances prevention and treatment against the top deadly and disabling diseases.
6) The worst part of my job…
There is no such thing! I have endless opportunities to tackle new challenges, make connections and learn every day.
7) After work…
I have two post-work rituals: playing volleyball and piano.
8) I always wanted to be….
A professional athlete.
