Knee osteoarthritis (OA) affects approximately 14 million individuals in the USA and although a number of nonsurgical and surgical management modalities exist, total knee arthroplasty (TKA) has been considered the gold standard procedure for end-stage knee OA. Robotic-arm assisted technology has also demonstrated improved bone cut accuracy and precision to plan, component alignment and soft-tissue balancing.
In this study, researchers from Baker Tilly LLP (NY, US), The CORE Institute (AZ, USA) and Lenox Hill Hospital (NY, USA) assessed 519 rTKA and 2595 mTKA procedures for episode-of-care costs, including post-acute services.
