App approved by FDA allows individuals with chronic pain and movement disorders to control therapies via their smartphone

Medical device company Abbott (IL, USA) has received US FDA approval for use of its recently developed Patient Controller app, which allows patients with chronic pain or movement disorders to control their implanted therapeutic devices from a compatible Apple smartphone or iPod. The app works with Abbott’s various implanted and external neuromodulation technologies, which provide electrical nerve stimulation therapy for patients with Parkinson’s disease, essential tremor or chronic pain.
