New guidance, the first in 12 years, has been developed and released by the National Institute of Care and Excellence (NICE, London, UK) to diagnose, treat and manage depression in adults. This guidance was developed by an independent NICE committee, with an additional aim to improve the costliness of depression treatment in multiple contexts. The committee reviewed evidence on how new depressive episodes and chronic depression are treated.
